Dedicated Transport Holdings, LLC Acquires Carrier in Clearwater, Florida

CLEVELAND--Dedicated Transport Holdings, LLC, a privately held company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, announced yesterday the acquisition of All Star Transportation, Inc., located in Clearwater, Florida and New Castle, Delaware.

All Star Transportation, Inc. provides liquid bulk trucking services to water treatment plants throughout the United States. All Star Transportation, LLC, as the company will be known going forward, will retain All Stars’ management team and its 40 drivers. Dedicated’s growth plan calls for hiring an additional 20 drivers over the next year.

The Lime Slurry Recycling Program video has hit the web, sure to be an internet sensation!

Dedicated Transport’s Lime Slurry Recycling Program replaces the practice of drying lime slurry in lagoons, then dumping it in landfills. We transport the lime slurry from water treatment plants to coal-fired power plants, where it is injected into the flue gas scrubber removing toxic contaminants before the air is released into the atmosphere.

Dedicated Transport, LLC is proud to announce it has joined other leading organizations and the US Environmental Protection Agency in the SmartWay Transport Partnership, which aims to make freight transport operations cleaner and more efficient. Dedicated Transport LLC cares about environmental stewardship; and cleaner, more fuel efficient freight operations improve air quality and reduce our nation’s reliance on foreign sources of oil. Together, we can improve the quality of our nation’s air and the working environment of our family of employees, customers and business partners.

Our Goal

Through this SmartWay Transport Partnership, Dedicated Transport LLC, EPA and all the other Partners expect to eliminate 33 to 66 million metric tons of CO2 emissions and up to 200,000 tons of NOx emissions per year by 2012. This represents savings of as much as 150 million barrels of fuel per year—equivalent to taking about 12 million cars off the road.

Our Commitment: Here’s What We’re Doing

As a Partner, Dedicated Transport has committed to improve its environmental performance over the next three years, by incorporating cost-effective practices and technologies into its freight transport operations. These practices and technologies will include:

• Computerized route optimization
• MPG incentive programs
• Driver training to teach drivers simple techniques to reduce fuel consumption
• Optimize and consolidate routes to reduce the number of loads
• Synchronize returns to maximize fleet use via backhauls and returnable container returns
• Coordinate shipments to consolidate freight costs and negotiate better rates
• Electronic billing to reduce or eliminate paper transactions
• Replace fleets with newer, lower emission engines
• Follow guidelines from the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay® Transport Program
• Monitor “on-board” computers to identify fuel saving trends in real time including excess speed, braking, fuel utilization and idle time
• Ensure driver compliance with route optimization
• Automatic tire inflation systems to maximize tire life and fuel economy

Dedicated Turns 20

In 2008 Dedicated Transport was proud to the Celebrate 20 years of superior dedicated contract carriage.

Dedicated was formed as Dedicated Transport, Inc. in June 1988 as an expansion of a truck leasing company owned by the Manfredi family. The Company’s original mission was to provide Dedicated Contract Carriage services to shippers located in Northeast Ohio. Frank Wagner, a 23-year veteran executive with Leaseway Transportation, was hired as President and managed to aggressively grow the Company. Tom McDermott, another Leaseway veteran executive with ten years experience, joined the Company in 1989 as Senior Vice President and focused on sales and marketing. In 2008, the company celebrated its 20th Anniversary and supports customers in numerous industries throughout the Eastern United States

In December, 2004 Frank Wagner and Tom McDermott acquired the assets of the Company which was renamed Dedicated Transport, LLC. In March, 2007 Dedicated acquired the assets and customer base of Baker’s Transport Service, Inc. which expanded the geographic footprint of Dedicated into Florida.
